Tim David made 70* in 25 balls with 8 sixes and 3 fours.
On April 5, 2026, arch-rivals Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced off in the IPL 2026. RCB, who had won their opening game of the season against Sunrisers Hyderabad, welcomed CSK to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK captain, won the toss and decided to bowl first. However, the decision backfired when RCB hitters attacked CSK bowlers. Virat Kohli scored 28 in 18 balls, while Phil Salt hit 46 in 30 balls, including three fours and two sixes.
However, the next three batsmen annihilated the CSK bowling. Devdutt Paddikal scored 50 in 29 balls, but Rajat Patidar and Tim David smashed the CSK bowlers with 99 unbroken runs in 36 balls for the fourth wicket.
Patidar scored 48* in 19 balls with six sixes and one four, while Tim David scored 70* in 25 balls with three fours and eight sixes. RCB finished their 20 overs on 250/3.
Tim David had come to the crease in proper mood as he had first hammered Noor Ahmad for three sixes in the 17th over. It was just an ominous sign of what was the to come.
Jamie Overton bowled the 19th over and saw Jamie Overton hitting one four and four sixes in total. Overton gave away 30 runs in the over, but one shot from Tim David stood out in particular. Overton was bowling short, around the wicket into David’s body and David just swung his bat and the ball sailed over the mid-wicket boundary, over the stands and over the stadium.
Even David was impressed with his shot and joking signaled ‘bye-bye’ to the ball.

CSK didn’t have the best start to their chase, as they lost their first three wickets for single digit score, before Sarfaraz Khan counterattacked with a 25-ball 50.
