Prithvi Shaw was bought by DC in the last round of accelerated auction.
India batter Prithvi Shaw had a huge turn of fortune in the recent IPL 2026 auction. The auction that was held in Abu Dhabi on December 16, gave a heartbreak initially for Prithvi Shaw, who had kept his base price at INR 75 lakhs.
Shaw's name showed up in the accelerated auction of unsold players after going unsold at the opening session's base price of Rs 75 lakh. But he didn't get any bids during the day either.
Then Shaw wrote "It's Ok," along with a heartbreak emoji, in an Instagram story.
However, things unexpectedly changed for him when the Delhi Capitals picked him up near the end of the auction, reviving his name for the third time.
Shaw reacted quickly; within six minutes, he removed his previous tweet and replaced it with a reshare of the franchise's post, which featured a picture of Shaw taking a selfie with DC captain Axar Patel to welcome him back into the fold.
“Back to my family," Prithvi Shaw titled this new post with a heart emoji.
Shaw formerly played for the Delhi Capitals from 2018 to 2024 until being released ahead of the IPL 2025 big auction, in which he went unsold.
