Rohit Sharma made 101 runs, adding 255 runs for opening wicket with Shubman Gill.
India and West Indies played the second ODI of the three-match series at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on September 30, 2026. India, who led the series 1-0, bowled first once again after Shubman Gill won the toss.
West Indies batters started taking Indian bowlers to the task on a belter of a batting pitch. Though Keacy Carty got out for 9 runs, the rest of the batters, including John Campbell (101 in 68 balls), Shai Hope (104 in 94 balls) and Amir Jangoo (114 in 77), enjoyed themselves in the middle.
Roston Chase gave a good finish to the West Indies innings, scoring 29* as they registered their highest-ever ODI score, 405/7 in 50 overs. Gurnoor Brar picked 2/96, and Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja picked two wickets each as well.
A target of 400-plus was only chased once in ODIs, and India had a tough ask, and their experienced openers Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma took the charge. The duo added 255 runs for the first wicket in 26.2 overs.
Rohit Sharma made his 35th ODI century, scoring 101 in 75 balls with 10 fours and 6 sixes to his name. It was a brilliant century from Rohit, who has been under pressure to perform. He was dismissed by Jayden Seales in the 27th over.
As he made his way back to the pavilion, he crossed Virat Kohli, who was approaching the crease. The two veterans had a moment in the middle, where Kohli shook hands with Rohit in appreciation for his knock.

Virat Kohli made a quick 29 off 19 balls before his dismissal, and then Ruturaj Gaikwad made sure no more wickets fell, scoring 31* with 2 fours. Shubman Gill, on the other hand, made a century in just 62 balls and continued to make his second ODI double ton.
This knock came in just 117 balls, earning him the record of the fastest ODI double century. Gill finished with 223* off 133 balls with 26 fours and 8 sixes, the highest score ever in a chase in ODIs, as India won by 8 wickets, chasing down a 406-run target in 43.3 overs. India became only the second team to chase a target of 400-plus in ODIs.
