The fourth T20I had to be called off after six inspections by the umpires.
The match, slated to get underway at 7 PM on Wednesday (December 17), had to be called off at 9:30 PM after six inspections by the umpires, with poor visibility making play impossible.
“Spectators who booked tickets online will receive a refund of the ticket amount through their original mode of payment,” UPCA secretary Prem Manohar Gupta said in a release.
“Refund-related notifications will be sent to the registered email addresses. Ticket holders are advised to regularly monitor their emails for further updates.”
For fans who purchased tickets offline, refunds can be collected in person from the box office at Gate No. 2 of the Ekana International Cricket Stadium on December 20, 21 and 22, between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.
“Offline ticket holders must be present in person and are required to carry their original physical tickets along with a copy of a government ID for verification,” the release said.
"Customers will submit all the above with their bank details. Fill out the refund form provided at the counter with relevant and accurate details. Submit the original tickets along with the completed form for verification.
"Upon successful verification, refunds will be processed directly to the respective bank accounts as per the details provided in the refund form Refunds will be initiated only after due verification of the submitted documents and information."
The abandonment has once again raised questions over the BCCI’s scheduling of international fixtures in northern part of the country during peak winter months, a period when fog has repeatedly disrupted matches.
India and South Africa will square off in the fifth and final T20I on Friday (December 19) at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
