Yashasvi Jaiswal fell for 18 runs, but then Virat Kohli added 136 runs for the second wicket with Rohit Sharma (57). After Rohit departed, Kohli continued and went on to make 135 runs in 120 balls with 11 fours and seven sixes to his name.
This was Virat Kohli’s 52nd century in ODI format, and he broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most centuries in one format of international cricket (51 tons in Test cricket). This was also his first century in ODIs since his ton against Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Kohli celebrated his ton with great enthusiasm, and the Indian dressing room applauded his knock. Kohli jumped in the air before acknowledging the crowd after his achievement. Even Rohit Sharma was in a celebratory mood as he seen clapping for his India teammate.
When Kohli reached his century at the JSCA Stadium on Sunday (November 30), a fan broke through security and sprinted across the length of the pitch to fall at the batting maestro's feet.
Kohli was in the midst of his celebration, taking out his ring pendant and kissing it, when the fan interfered, and he was apprehended by security authorities who had chased him all the way from the boundary line. The fan was safely taken away by the officials as Kohli soaked in the applause.
