Rohit Sharma and his men expressed dissent after the on-field umpires decided to stop play due to bad light on Day 4 of the first India versus New Zealand Test match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

After the game-changing partnership of 177 runs for the fourth wicket between Sarfaraz Khan (150) and Rishabh Pant (99), India’s second innings collapsed like pack of cards. The hosts lost their last six wickets for just 54 runs to be bowled out for 462, setting a target of 107 for the Kiwis.

During the chase, New Zealand skipper Tom Latham was getting tasted by India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah before the play was halted owing to bad light.

The two umpires took this call with only four deliveries being bowled in the final innings. However, the Indian camp was not one bit pleased with this decision.

While Latham and his opening partner Conway quietly walked away from the scene, Rohit and Co. had an argument with the match officials, who decided to go off after taking the reading on the light metre.

The Indian players wanted to carry on with the aim to make early inroads at the stroke of stumps on Day 4. However, their hopes of returning to the field were completely dashed as it started raining at the Chinnaswamy Stadium and the play was eventually called off.

The visitors will go into the fifth day as favorites, needing 107 runs with 10 wickets in hand to claim a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series.
