England on Thursday (February 22) announced their playing XI for the penultimate Test against India, starting on February 23 in Ranchi.

The Three Lions have left out speedster Mark Wood from the line-up, replacing him with Ollie Robinson, who is yet to play a match in the series so far.

On the other hand, veteran seamer James Anderson retained his place in the playing XI despite bowling long spells in the last two Tests.

Left-arm orthodox Tom Hartley, who produced a match-winning spell in the opening Test in Hyderabad, will continue to lead England’s spin attack in Ranchi.

The other change in the England line-up was off-spinner Shoaib Bashir replacing leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed, who had a tough outing in the Rajkot Test.

The rest of the line-up remains the same. The dynamic duo of Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett will open the innings, followed by Ollie Pope, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow.

Skipper Ben Stokes is slotted to bat at No. 6 while Ben Foakes is the designated wicketkeeper-batter in the side.

After losing the last two Tests in Vizag and Rajkot, England are trailing 2-1 in the five-match series. They need to either win or draw the fourth Test to keep the series alive.
