Jaiswal put on a show with the bat on Day 3 of the Rajkot Test against England.
After taking a substantial first-innings lead of 126 runs, the hosts lost skipper Rohit Sharma for 19 in the second essay.
However, Jaiswal carried on his brilliant form to smash a sparkling century – his third in the longest format of the game. The southpaw notched up his three-figure mark off 122 deliveries.
In the process, Jaiswal added 155* runs for the second wicket with Shubman Gill before the back spasms forced him to retire hurt on 104 off 133 balls.
While Yashasvi Jaiswal’s knock was studded with 9 fours and 5 sixes, the highlight of his innings was a couple of innovative shots he executed against leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed.
In the third delivery of the 33rd over, Rehan bowled a flatter delivery on the middle stump and Jaiswal switched up his feet to play a reverse pull over backward point for a boundary.
One ball later, the left-hander pulled off a reverse sweep to collect another boundary. Jaiswal’s innovative shots didn’t only entertain the fans, but it also brought smiles to the faces of Indian coaching staff.
In a video shared by BCCI, India batting coach Vikram Rathour was seen having a laugh with head coach Rahul Dravid after Jaiswal’s second boundary against Rehan Ahmed.
