India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah made the England batters dance to his tunes on Day 2 of the second Test in Visakhapatnam.

In reply to India’s first innings score of 396, the visitors were in a strong position at 114/2 in the 23rd over. However, Bumrah ran through the English batting line-up with an incredible spell of reverse-swing bowling in the post-lunch session and the third session.

The right-arm quick dismissed Joe Root (5), Ollie Pope (23) and Jonny Bairstow (25) in quick succession to reduce the tourists to 159/5. Bumrah’s next three victims were Ben Stokes (47), Tom Hartley (21) and James Anderson (6) as he returned with the figures of 6/45 in his 15.5 overs.

Thanks to his awe-inspiring spell, the hosts bundled out England for 253 in 55.5 overs, taking a substantial first-innings lead of 143 runs.

With this remarkable performance, Bumrah also became the fastest Indian pacer to pick up 150 Test wickets, in just his 34th match.

At the close of play on Day 2, Team India were 28/0, extending their lead to 171 runs in the second innings. Skipper Rohit Sharma (13*) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (15*) were unbeaten in the middle for the home team.

For his herculean effort with the ball, Jasprit Bumrah received rich praise from the cricket fraternity on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
