India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed his maiden Test double hundred on Day 2 of the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam.

The southpaw, who was unbeaten on 179 at stumps on Day 1, achieved the milestone on the second delivery of the 102nd over. He swept a full toss from Shoaib Bashir towards the square leg fence for a boundary to notch up the 200-run mark.

Jaiswal had made his intentions clear right in the very first delivery of the 102nd over that he was going for the double century. As Bashir bowled a quicker delivery on Jaiswal's pads, the left-hander deposited it into the stands over the square leg fence for a maximum to reach 197.

The next delivery bowled by Bashir was a full toss and Jaiswal gleefully accepted it to accomplish the landmark in what was his sixth Test match for India.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was eventually dismissed by veteran England pacer James Anderson for 209 off 290 balls. His knock was studded with 19 fours and 7 sixes. With this innings, he also became the third youngest Indian to get a double hundred after Vinod Kambli and Sunil Gavaskar.

Thanks to Jaiswal’s maiden double ton, the hosts posted 396 in their first innings of the second Test against England.

For his scintillating knock, Yashasvi Jaiswal received rich praise from the cricket fraternity on social media platform X.
