India set Bangladesh 222-run target to win the second T20I and level the 3-match series 1-1.
The second T20I between India and Bangladesh is being played in Delhi on October 9, 2024. India won the first game in Gwalior and leads the 3-match series 1-0.
Najmul Hossain Shanto, Bangladesh captain, won the toss and chose to bowl first in Delhi. India came into the game unchanged, while Bangladesh made one change.
Bangladesh bowlers hurt India at the start dismissing Sanju Samson (10), Abhishek Sharma (15), and Suryakumar Yadav (8). But then Rinku Singh and Nitish Reddy added 108 runs for the 4th wicket.
Reddy made 74 in 34 balls with 4 fours and 7 sixes, while Rinku made 53 in 29 balls. Hardik Pandya with 32 in 19 balls provided a good finish as India posted 221/9 in 20 overs. Rishad Hossain picked three wickets for Bangladesh.
In response, Indian bowlers exploited the pressure that was on Bangladesh batters while chasing 221 runs. Bangladeshi batters tried their best but kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Only Mahmudullah showed some fight and kept Bangladesh from being completely demolished.
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya remained the only one who didn’t get to bowl any over for the majority of the match, but after the bat, he contributed with three catches. His catch of Rishad Hossain at the boundary stunned everyone.
Rishad connected nicely to a short one by Varun Chakravarthy and the ball traveled over the boundary ropes. Pandya, however, sprinted from deep midwicket and managed to grab the ball with one hand before tumbling near the boundary to complete an astonishing catch.
