Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for 16 off 7 balls after a mix-up with fellow opener Sanju Samson.
Left-handed opener Abhishek Sharma has become a household name after his stunning exploits in the IPL 2024 for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Thanks to his brilliance in the IPL, Abhishek earned his maiden India call-up during the T20I tour of Zimbabwe in July. He announced his arrival to international cricket by smashing a dazzling century in just his second T20I match against Zimbabwe in Harare.
While Sharma was overlooked for the T20I series against Sri Lanka, he is currently plying his trade in the three-T20I series against Bangladesh at home.
The 24-year-old incurred a horrible run-out in the opening game in Gwalior on Sunday (October 6). He was dismissed for 16 off 7 balls following a mix-up with fellow opener Sanju Samson. His dismissal did not impact India, who chased down the target of 128 with seven wickets in hand and 49 deliveries to spare.
After the win, Abhishek Sharma took to Instagram and shared pictures from the first T20I with the caption, "Every run, every ball–it’s all for the team. Great start to the series."
The southpaw’s post received a stern message from his mentor and former India cricketer, Yuvraj Singh.
The World Cup winner minced no words as he warned the youngster by commenting, "Only if we apply our brains properly."
Abhishek Sharma will look to make amends in the second T20I against Bangladesh, due to be held in Delhi on Wednesday (October 9).
