Dube is ruled out the three-match series, starting October 6 in Gwalior.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday (October 5) confirmed that Shivam Dube has been ruled out of the home T20I series against Bangladesh.
The Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel has announced Tilak Varma as Dube’s replacement for the three-match series, starting October 6 in Gwalior.
“All-rounder Shivam Dube is ruled out of the three-match T20I series owing to a back injury. The Senior Selection Committee has named Tilak Varma as Shivam’s replacement. Tilak will link up with the squad in Gwalior on Sunday morning,” BCCI said in a statement.
On the eve of the opening T20I, India skipper Suryakumar Yadav also addressed a press conference, where confirmed the team’s opening pair for the Bangladesh series.
Suryakumar said wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson will open for India alongside Abhishek Sharma, who made his debut during the T20I tour of Zimbabwe in July.
“Sanju Samson will open with Abhishek going forward in this series,” the Indian captain told reporters in Gwalior.
