Rinku Singh became a household name after his stunning exploits in the IPL 2023 season for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

The southpaw emerged as the highest run-getter for his side, amassing 474 runs from 14 innings at an average of 59.25 and a strike rate of 149.52. More than the impressive numbers, he caught everyone’s attention by finishing games for KKR from difficult situations.

In one of the games against Gujarat Titans, Rinku smashed pacer Yash Dayal for five sixes in an over to script KKR’s improbable victory.

Following his breakthrough IPL season, Rinku was rewarded a place in India’s squad and he has represented the country in two ODIs and 23 T20Is so far.

The swashbuckling left-hander is all set to play for India again in the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh that starts on October 6.

Ahead of the first T20I in Gwalior, Rinku Singh opened up about his new ‘God’s plan’ tattoo and revealed the unique connection it has with the five sixes that turned his life upside down.

“Sabko pata hai ki mera ek famous, jo mai bolta hoon—God’s plan. Us naam ka he maine tattoo karwaya, abhi kuch hafte hue hai. Aur thoda bahut mujhe iss naam se he jaante hai, God’s plan ke toh maine socha tha ki ek tattoo karwata hoon permanent. Iss tattoo ka matlab hai God’s plan aur uske around sun aur jo main cheej hai, meri iss tattoo ki, vo 5 six jo maare the, jis area mein maine—2 covers par maare the, 2 saamne aur ek pair ke paas—toh yaha se naa meri life change ho gayi aur yaha se mujhe log jaanne lage toh maine socha ki mai ek tattoo karata hoon isi ka,” Rinku said in a video uploaded by BCCI’s official X handle on Saturday (October 5).

Rinku Singh will play the role of a finisher for Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian team in the T20I series against Bangladesh. He was one of the travelling reserves during India’s triumphant T20 World Cup 2024 campaign in the USA and West Indies.
