Virat Kohli failed to make a mark with the bat across the two innings of Chennai Test.
India’s star batter Virat Kohli failed to make a mark with the bat across the two innings of the first Test match against Bangladesh at Chepauk.
While Kohli was dismissed for run-a-ball six in the first innings, he scored 17 runs off 37 balls in the second essay. His dismissal in the second innings could have been avoided had he opted for a DRS.
Kohli was adjudged LBW on Day 2 of the Chennai Test and his batting partner Shubman Gill did suggest the former India captain to take a review. But he instead chose to walk away and later replays revealed an inside edge onto the pad.
Umpire Richard Kettleborough could not stop smiling after realizing that Kohli made a blunder. His funny reaction went viral, sparking memes on social media.
A day later, Kohli walked up to Kettleborough to have a word but was left in splits after the match official made a remark while patting his back. The video of the moment did go viral on the internet, but there was no audio available to clarify what the umpire had told the Indian batter.

During the third day’s play, Virat Kohli also shared a lighthearted moment with wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant. The cameras caught the duo exchanging sunglasses when Bangladesh’s second innings was in progress.
Kohli took off his sunglasses and handed them directly to Pant, who removed the pair he was already wearing and put on the ones given to him by his senior teammate.
In a reciprocal act, Pant then offered his own sunglasses to Kohli. The former Indian captain accepted them and put them on, further emphasizing the healthy between the two.

Coming to the match, India declared their second innings on 287/4, setting a colossal 515-run target for Bangladesh. Shubman Gill (119*) and Rishabh Pant (109) slammed centuries for the hosts in the second essay.
The visitors did show some resilience in their second innings to reach 158/4 when play was called off due to bad light. They need a staggering 357 runs for the result to be in their favour with just six wickets in hand.
