Bumrah picked 4/50 in 1st innings against Bangladesh to bundle them for 149.
Jasprit Bumrah had a word of wisdom for young kids and said that while he likes that young kids are getting inspired by him to take up cricket, but he wouldn’t advise them to copy his bowling action.
Bumrah stated that he fell in love with cricket after seeing fast bowling, but he does not want children to replicate his movement, which is considered to be injury-prone.
Since Bumrah first appeared on the cricketing scene, there have been concerns regarding his actions. The quick bowler suffered a serious back injury and was out for more than a year. He had to undergo surgery and lengthy rehab to get back to top fitness.
Bumrah is currently playing in the first of the two Tests against Bangladesh, which is being hosted in Chennai. After India put on 367 runs in the first innings, Bumrah ran through Bangladesh's batting, taking 4/50, and kept them to 149 runs, giving India a lead of 227 runs.
After the day's play, the fast bowler was told he was an inspiration to the younger generation. Bumrah responded that he was happy to make an effect wherever he could.
"I don't know how to react to that. But you know, when I was a kid, I used to. I was a fan of fast bowling. I learned through watching the television. I fell in love with the sport by that. Now, sometimes when I see children trying to copy my action, I don't recommend it. But you know, sometimes it is what it is. You get inspired by something and you try and find your own way. I'm very happy to create an impact whenever I can," Jasprit Bumrah told the broadcaster JioCinema.
"I try to give my absolute best. Other than that, whatever is the narrative. I don't control the narrative. I don't go too high with the praises. I don't go too low, you know when challenges come my way. So I try to focus on what I can do, and I try to give my absolute best. I wanted to play for India, and he (Parthiv Patel) has seen my journey and you know how hard we work as a group. So playing for India. No complaints. And I want to give my best for as long as I can," he further added.
Apart from Bumrah, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja picked up 2 wickets each to bundle the visiting side for cheap. India ended day 2 on 81/3 with a lead of 308 runs to their name.
