Gautam Gambhir took over as India head coach from Rahul Dravid post T20 World Cup 2024.
Gambhir, a former opening batter for India, began his coaching job by leading the squad on their tour of Sri Lanka in July and August. Dravid offered his thoughts about his successor during a media session.
"He (Gambhir) has got a lot of experience, as a player also he has played a lot, he obviously coached quite a bit. I am sure he will be great. In any situation, everyone brings his own experience and knowledge to the table. I am sure the team will benefit from everything that Gautam brings to them with his team,” Dravid said at an event.
The Indian squad, now led by Gambhir, began its Test season on Thursday. Over the next four months, the team is set to play ten Test matches.
This contains two matches against Bangladesh and three matches against New Zealand. The team will next travel to Australia, where they will play a five-match Test series.
Rahul Dravid, on the other hand, will return as head coach of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season next year.
