Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal made a strong impact with his quickfire knock of 68 runs off 34 balls during Team India’s 6-wicket win over Afghanistan in the second T20I in Indore on January 14.

After his impressive outing in Indore, Yashasvi credited the Indian team management, especially the captain Rohit Sharma, for encouraging him to "go out and express himself" with the bat on Sunday.

Jaiswal's impressive batting at the top, along with Shivam Dube's unbeaten 63 off 32 balls, played a key role in India’s series-clinching win against Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the youngster revealed that Rohit had a special message for him ahead of the game, and it was to be himself with the bat.

Yashasvi Jaiswal said in a video shared by the BCCI on social media: “Wo kehte hain tu jaa aur bindaas khel (Just go and play your shots freely). He's always there to look after us. It's always incredible if you have a senior like him.”

Meanwhile, Jaiswal said at the post-match conference: “I have been told to go and express myself and I was trying to do that. I was trying to punish the loose balls and was focused on giving my team a good start...I was trying to bat as deep as I could. I was trying to keep my strike rate good. I wanted to keep batting with a good strike rate.”

Jaiswal signed off by saying, “I keep working hard in my practice sessions and on my process. Whenever I get my chance, I try my best and make sure that I am doing things for the important team. I am just trying to show my intent and trying to do well for my team.”
