IND v WI 2018: COC Team India Players’ Rating for T20I series

Team India defeated West Indies 3-0 in the 3-match T20I series.

By Jatin Sharma - 12 Nov, 2018

The Indian team ended their 2018 home assignments with a 3-0 win over the West Indies in the T20I series.

The third T20I match between the two sides played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai went down right to the wire and was won by India on the last ball of their innings, with Manish Pandey taking a single off a misfield.

The series was known for the century of Rohit Sharma in the second match and the 92-run innings from Shikhar Dhawan, his first fifty-plus innings after a long time. But India managed to win the series by performing a whitewash.

COC now presents to you the Team India Players’ Rating for the T20I series

ROHIT SHARMA- 7/10

Rohit Sharma scored 121 runs in the three innings he batted including a brilliant century (111*) in the Lucknow T20I. He led from the front and wasn’t perturbed when the bowlers were going for runs in the first game. As a batsman and as a captain, Rohit Sharma has expressed himself and empowered his players to bring their best to the game.

SHIKHAR DHAWAN- 5/10

Shikhar Dhawan finally made some runs in the tournament including a fifty-plus score after what has been a long time. He top-scored with 138 runs to his name with a best of 92, his highest T20I score in the last and final T20I which helped India chase down a target of 180 odd runs. Dhawan will have three matches against Australia to end on a high in 2018.

KL RAHUL- 3/10

KL Rahul was given the onus of batting at number 3 in place of Virat Kohli. However, with just 59 runs in 3 innings meant that he squandered those chances. But what was good to see was his strike rate of 128.26.

MANISH PANDEY- 2/10

Manish Pandey scored 26 runs with the highest score of 19. He scored an important run to get India the much-needed victory in the last T20I in Chennai off the last ball of the match.

RISHABH PANT- 4/10

Rishabh Pant scored his first fifty in T20I cricket, a swashbuckling 58 runs in the third and final T20I when the Indian team was chasing over 180 runs in the 3rd T20I in Chennai. He added 130 runs with Shikhar Dhawan as India whitewashed West Indies 3-0 in the three-match series.

DINESH KARTHIK- 3/10

Dinesh Karthik got to bat just once in the three matches and scored a match-winning 31* in the first T20I when the innings was much needed with India losing the top order early. He was safe behind the wickets and took three catches.

KRUNAL PANDYA- 4/10

Krunal Pandya made his T20I debut for India and played in all the three matches. He picked one wicket and scored 21* in the only innings he got to bat in. The innings was enough and important for India to win the first T20I match in Kolkata, which went down to the wire.

KULDEEP YADAV- 8/10

Kuldeep Yadav picked five wickets in two matches he played and was named Man of the Series for his efforts. His best was 3/13 at an average of 9.00 and economy of 5.62. West Indies batsmen found it extremely difficult to handle him and play him.

JASPRIT BUMRAH- 7/10

Jasprit Bumrah played two matches and picked 3 wickets in those matches. His average was 15.66 and economy was 5.87 and his yorkers did a lot of damage to Windies batsmen’s egos.

BHUVNESHWAR KUMAR- 5/10

Bhuvneshwar Kumar played two matches to pick two wickets with a best of 2/12. He was decent enough with the economy of 6.37, which is a tad expensive for the usually frugal Bhuvneshwar.

KHALEEL AHMED- 6/10

Khaleel Ahmed picked three wickets and looked like a golden find for the Indian team. Despite being a tad expensive with an economy of 6.91, Khaleel bowled with pace and his yorkers and slower ones were spot on more than usual.

YUZVENDRA CHAHAL- 3/10

Yuzvendra Chahal played in the third T20I and picked 2/28 in four overs. He came in for Kuldeep Yadav and after a disappointing ODI series, ended the home season on a good note. He also completed 100 wickets in T20 cricket.

WASHINGTON SUNDAR- 2/10

Washington Sundar made an appearance after the Nidahas Trophy and played the last T20I picking a solitary wicket.

UMESH YADAV- 2/10

Umesh Yadav played in the first T20I and went for 36 runs in his four overs for a single wicket and was benched for the rest of the series.
