COC players' ratings for Indian team after the ODI series win over West Indies.
India and West Indies played out a wonderful ODI series of five matches in which the first three matches were highly competitive and gave us all the three results possible. India won the first match; West Indies tied the second and then won the third match to put series at an interesting point.
However, the next two matches provided the proof why West Indies had to play the World Cup qualifiers for the 2019 World Cup in England. They lost the last two ODIs by huge margins and India won the series 3-1-1.
Amongst Indian players captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain, Rohit Sharma shined brightly with the bat, while Ambati Rayudu almost cemented his spot at no.4 for the World Cup. India got a new fast bowler in Khaleel Ahmed, while Ravindra Jadeja put forth his name for the touring party for the World Cup in England.
Team COC has taken into account the performances of Team India players in the just-concluded ODI series and presents to you the players’ ratings for the same.

ROHIT SHARMA 10/10
389 runs at an average of 129.66 and two centuries with both being scores of over 150 are what Rohit Sharma conjured up against Windies in the five-match series. With Virat Kohli back in the ODI side, Rohit was relieved of the captaincy after Asia Cup triumph and it showed in his batting.
Rohit went after the bowling and had just one failure when he was bowled by a beauty from Jason Holder for a single digit score. But he hit 152* and 162 enabling India to chase down a 300 plus total with ease and then put up a humongous 370 odd on board in the Mumbai ODI.
His form bodes well for the Indian team, which will be led by him in the T20I series against West Indies shortly.
SHIKHAR DHAWAN 3/10
Shikhar Dhawan might rue all the starts that he failed to convert into big scores, given that the rest of his teammates made merry against the Windies. He made only 112 runs in five matches and failed to pass 50 even a single time.
Despite two centuries in Asia Cup 2018, Dhawan’s form reduced drastically and Windies fast bowlers knew his weakness and kept him on the leash throughout the series. He got starts but failed to convert them into big ones like Rohit and Virat did and hence has come in for some severe criticism.
VIRAT KOHLI 10/10
Indian captain Virat Kohli was on another level altogether in the series, as he became the first Indian to score three hundreds in three consecutive ODI matches. Kohli amassed 453 with the highest score of 157* and an average of 151.00 and a strike rate of 112.96. Kohli literally led from the front and was named the Man of the series for his efforts.
AMBATI RAYUDU 8/10
Ambati Rayudu was the marked man for the no.4 spot in the ODI setup but was left out of the England ODI series due to his failure to pass the yo-yo test. Since then, he has been in terrific form, making two fifties in Asia Cup 2018 and now a fifty and a century in the Windies series.
He scored an even hundred and a score of 73 in the series to amass 217 runs in the 4 innings he got to bat. Rayudu’s ability to bat risk-free with a strike rate of around 100 runs/balls has made him an ideal choice for the no.4 spot, something endorsed by the captain, coach, and vice-captain umpteen times.
MS DHONI 3/10
MS Dhoni’s struggles with the bat continued in this series as well, as he made a total of 50 runs with a best of 23 in the series. He took four catches and effected two stumpings. Dhoni was as good as he was behind the stumps; however, Dhoni was a shadow of his former self with the bat and apart from a nostalgia-filled six, he failed to help the team up the ante in the chances he got with the bat.
With him being already dropped from the T20I side for the West Indies and Australia series, it remains to be seen, how much the team can keep up with MS Dhoni the keeper, in absence of MS Dhoni, the batsman.
RISHABH PANT 3/10
Rishab Pant made his much-awaited ODI debut for India but got to play only just two innings scoring 41 runs. He was replaced by Kedar Jadhav for the last two games. Pant might want chances where he gets to bat some number of overs to get his eyes in and then smack the ball all over the park, atleast in the ODIs, but the sparks were seen.
Given that he was chosen as the first-choice wicketkeeper for the T20I series against Windies and Australia, Pant surely sees his stars rising.
RAVINDRA JADEJA 6/10
Ravindra Jadeja was nowhere in the team’s ODI scheme for the last 12-14 months or so. However, a freak injury to Hardik Pandya and lack of options for him meant that Jadeja got his chance in 50-overs cricket once more in Asia Cup and since then, he has gone from strength to strength. He has picked two four-wicket hauls since then and with some important runs under his belt, his confidence is sky high.
He picked 7 wickets in the series in four matches with a best of 4/34 and his fielding was exemplary as ever.
BHUVNESHWAR KUMAR 3/10
Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked 3 wickets in 3 matches he played and looked kind of rusty. He went for 70 runs in the first ODI he played in the series and though he became more inexpensive, the wickets came by harder, as spinners ruled the roost for India.
JASPRIT BUMRAH 7/10
Jasprit Bumrah picked 6 wickets in the series in 3 matches with a best of 4/35. He was at his best in the Pune ODI with four wickets to his name and his accuracy in bowling yorkers was highly praised by the former West Indian greats who were commentating during the series.
YUZVENDRA CHAHAL 4/10
Yuzvendra Chahal had a lean series by his standards picking five wickets with a best of 3/41. However, he was rested for the last two games of the series, as Jadeja and Kuldeep took on the spin duties and performed well.
KULDEEP YADAV 8/10
Kuldeep Yadav had another good series with the ball, picking 8 wickets and returning the best figure of 3/42. Kuldeep was at his best during the middle overs when he kept the runs down and took wickets to put brakes on Windies scoring.
KEDAR JADHAV 3/10
Kedar Jadhav returned to the Indian team after a break and got to play one innings in which he scored 16* runs. He was good in the field and caught everything that came his way. Keeping himself fit on a constant basis would be a big task for Jadhav going into the 2019 World Cup.
MOHAMMAD SHAMI 2/10
Mohammad Shami played two ODIs picking up 3 wickets with a best of 2/81 with an economy of 7.00. He was expensive and went for runs almost whenever he came to bowl. He was the first casualty of India playing a tied match the second ODI of the series.
UMESH YADAV 1/10
Umesh Yadav will be remembered for bowling the last over in the second ODI which was tied, as Shai Hope hit him for a four on the last ball when five runs were needed. Overall, though Umesh bowled fast and quick, the extra pace helped the Windies batsmen as he was carted all over the ground for runs. He picked 1 wicket in two matches, going for runs at an economy of 7.10. He was soon discarded in favor of Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar, who returned to the ODI team after being rested for the first two ODIs and the Test matches.
KHALEEL AHMED 7/10
Probably the find for India in this series was left-arm fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed. He picked 7 wickets with a best of 3/13. He bowled extremely well in the fourth ODI in Mumbai, which India won by 224 runs, as he swung the ball and made Windies batsmen looked like novices. Ahmed has put his name in the hat for the 2017 World Cup with his impressive performance here.
