Washington Sundar ran out of partners while batting on 96* in the fourth Test.
India all-rounder Washington Sundar missed out on his maiden Test hundred once again in the ongoing Test series against England. On Saturday (March 6), Sundar was left stranded on 96* runs as he lost Akshar Patel, Ishant Sharma, and Mohammed Siraj on the other end.
Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer and Virender Sehwag posted a meme after Sundar ran out of batting partners in the fourth Test at Ahmedabad. After Akshar's run-out, Ben Stokes got Ishant out on LBW, and then three balls later, bowled Siraj to end India's innings.
Earlier in the series, Sundar had missed out on a hundred in the first Test at Chennai. While he was on 85*, Jasprit Bumrah, the last batsman, had got out to James Anderson.
"Missed out on a well-deserved century but did not miss out in demonstrating his class @Sundarwashi5 . Meanwhile Sundar to the last two Indian batsmen. #INDvsENG," posted Sehwag.
Jaffer joked about Sundar's father being upset about the missed ton, like he was during the Australia tour.
"Axar, Ishant and Siraj next time they meet Washington's father at a function????. But seriously this 96* is no less than a hundred, very well played @Sundarwashi5 ???????? #INDvENG," he wrote.
India were bowled out on 337 in the first innings in reply to England's 205 runs. Sundar may have been unlucky, but Rishabh Pant (101) scored a hundred for India
