Indian bowlers continued their domination over the England batsmen on the opening day of the fourth Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Opting to bat first, the visitors got off to a terrible start as they were reduced to 30 for 3. While left-arm spinner Akshar Patel dismissed Zak Crawley (9) and Dominic Sibley (2) cheaply, pacer Mohammed Siraj got the prized scalp of skipper Joe Root for just 5.

The pair of Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes provided some resistance by adding 48 runs for the fourth wicket. Siraj broke the partnership by removing Bairstow on 28.

Afterwards, Ollie Pope joined hands with Stokes at the crease and they put on 43 runs. But England’s innings crumbled when Stokes (55) was sent back by Washington Sundar.

Although Daniel Lawrence made a valuable contribution of 46, the duo of Akshar (4-68) and R Ashwin (3-47) ran through the lower-order to bowl out England for 205 in 75.5 overs.

For their brilliance with the ball, Indian bowlers garnered rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
