James Anderson and Ben Stokes liked a tweet hitting back at Alexandra Hartley over a joke.
England men cricketers didn't have a good time off the field after their team had a tough couple of days on the field against India. The Day-Night Test at the new Narendra Modi Stadium turned out to be a forgetful game for the visitors as they lost by 10 wickets.
Having scored just 112 and 81 in two innings, England could only set a target of 49 runs which was an easy ask for Team India. After the defeat of Joe Root and co, England women's cricketer Alexandra Hartley posted a cheeky tweet.
Hartley joked about the early finish of the Test match between India and England as the women's team were to play their 2nd ODI match against New Zealand.
“Nice of the England boys to get this test match finished just before England Women play tonight,” she said, with the clapping emojis, before adding “Catch them on @btsportcricket.”
Rory Burns couldn't take the joke and replied to Hartley in a bitter tone. He had to later delete his tweet after realizing the tweet wasn't in the right sense. He had tweeted, “Very disappointing attitude considering all the boys do to support the Women’s game.”
Even James Anderson and Ben Stokes liked Burns’ tweet. The English side seems to be rattled after finding it hard to compete with India on the field and is now being turned into a joke on Twitter.
Ben Duckett was also not happy with Hartley's post. He said the men's team wouldn't clap if the women team lost similarly.
The Test match was finished in two days, which gives England three extra days to prepare for the last Test and save the series. India is currently 2-1 ahead in the series.
