Indian Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane's form with the bat has been criticized by former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar. He pointed out that Rahane hasn't registered a single score of more than 40 in 7 innings since the century in Melbourne in December 2020.

Ajinkya Rahane returned scores of 27*, 22, 4, 37, 24, 1, and 0 in his last 7 innings. That is a combined total of 115 runs at an average of 19.17. To add to that, he amassed 133 runs in the remaining 6 innings he played in the year 2020 at an average of 22.17. He hasn't registered a single 50+ score apart from the century in Melbourne since November 2019.

Sanjay Manjrekar took a note of the poor run of form of his fellow Mumbaikar. He tweeted saying that Rahane the batsman is a major problem for Rahane the captain. He doesn't expect such low scores from the vice-captain of the Indian Test team.

He even went on to say that class players retain the form when they get into it, which has not been the story with Ajinkya Rahane. Ajinkya Rahane managed to score just 1 and 0 against England in the first Test in Chennai.

Manjrekar tweeted, "My issue with Rahane the captain is Rahane the batsman. After that 100 in Melbourne his scores are - 27*, 22, 4, 37, 24, 1 & 0. After a 100, class players carry their form & carry the burden of players out of form. #INDvENG"
