The 1000th match of T20I format was played between India and Bangladesh at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and proved to be a historic one for the visitors.

Mahmudullah won the toss and chose to chase. Rohit Sharma fell for 9, and KL Rahul fell for 15, but Iyer (22) and Shikhar Dhawan (41) added 34 runs before Iyer fell to Islam and Dhawan got run out going for a non-existent second run. Washington Sundar (14* off 5 balls) and Krunal Pandya (15* off 8 balls) took the final score to 148/6. Shaiful Islam (2/36) and Aminul Islam (2/22) were the best Bangladeshi bowlers.

In reply, debutant Mohammad Naim hit 26 at the start. But it was the experienced Mushfiqur Rahim (60* with 8 fours and 1 six) and Soumya Sarkar (39), who took Bangladesh home. Krunal Pandya’s drop catch of Rahim didn’t do any good to India and Rahim hit Khaleel Ahmed for four fours in the penultimate over to seal the deal for the Tigers.

Bangladesh reached the target in the last over and ended with 154/3 in 19.3 overs and completed their first-ever win over India in T20 Internationals.
