IND v BAN 2019: BCB names Mominul Haque Bangladesh Test captain; Mahmudullah to lead in T20Is

Shakib Al Hasan has received a two-year ban from ICC.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have named Mominul Haque the new Test captain and Mahmudullah Riyad was given the T20I captaincy of Bangladesh team after the incumbent Shakib-Al-Hasan was banned for two years with one year suspended by ICC for failing to report multiple corrupt approaches to anti-corruption unit.

The board also named changes in the T20I side as Abu Hider Rony will replace injured Mohammad Saifuddin while Mohammad Mithun will come in place of Tamim Iqbal. Saifuddin has been hindered by a recurring back injury, while Tamim opted to remain with his wife, with the couple expecting their second child. Taijul Islam will replace Shakib in the T20 squad. Meanwhile, in the Test squad, Saif Hasan, the uncapped 20-year-old batsman, has been called up. Haider has played 36 first-class games and has 2217 runs to his name at an average of 46.18. Al Amin Hossain, who last played a Test in 2014, too finds a spot in the 15-member squad.

Ebadot Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman are also included in the Test squad. Liton Das, meanwhile, will be the first-choice 'keeper in the Test side with Mushfiqur Rahim giving up the gloves in the longest format.
