Former Australia spinner Brad Hogg has hit out at the International Cricket Council (ICC) over the scheduling of the World Test Championship final.

India and Australia will square off in the second WTC final at The Oval in London from June 7 to 11, with June 12 being kept as a reserve day.

Meanwhile, the 2023 edition of Indian Premier League will take place in India from March 31 to May 28.

With almost three months still left in the WTC final, Hogg feels the excitement would get cooled down by then as the fans would have had enough of cricket after the IPL.

"What are the ICC doing? The main games have all finished and now we have got to wait for 3 months for the WTC Final. That is not good for the fans out there. ICC, wake up, please."

"All of the momentum, the excitement by then will have dissipated. By the time the WTC Final comes along after the IPL, everyone has had enough of cricket and they probably would not be interested in the final," said Hogg while speaking on his YouTube channel.

Hogg also opposed ICC’s decision to have the match at a neutral venue, opining that it should be played on the home soil of the team that finished first.

"I also don't think the WTC Final should be played at a neutral venue. It should be on the home soil of the team that finished first," said Hogg.

While Australia sealed a WTC final spot by winning the third Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against India in Indore, the Rohit Sharma-led side qualified after New Zealand knocked out Sri Lanka with a thrilling two-wicket victory in the Christchurch Test.
