Kohli made 44 runs before being controversially getting out LBW.
Kohli was consolidating the innings on day two after Nathan Lyon had picked the top four of the Indian order including Rohit Sharma (32), KL Rahul (17), Cheteshwar Pujara (0), and Shreyas Iyer (4), leaving the hosts 66/4.
Along with Jadeja, Kohli added 59 runs for the fifth wicket and was looking good for his first Test fifty in 12 innings; but it was not to be as debutant Matthew Kuhnemann got him out LBW, despite Kohli opting for the DRS.
Though there was not sufficient evidence whether the ball had hit the pad first or the bat first, the replays were enough for TV umpire Richard Illingworth as he was convinced that the front-on replay was conclusive for him to ask Nitin Menon to stay with his decision of out.
This led to Virat Kohli trudging back to the pavilion for 44 runs and was furious on watching the replays in the dressing room.
Later, the cameras captured Kohli in deep conversation with coach Rahul Dravid and during their convo, a person interrupted Kohli to inform him that his lunch had arrived, which seemed to be like Chhole Bhature, in a white container and something wrapped in foil.
He was visibly excited to see his food arrive and clapped in elation as he asked the person to take them inside.
