Healy recently created quite a stir by claiming how the BCCI doesn’t prepare proper playing wickets for visiting teams. He further said that if given ‘fair conditions’ to play, the Pat Cummins-led Australian side might excel and even win the Test series this time around.
“I think if they produce fair Indian wickets, that are good batting wickets, to start with, (that) probably spin and spin pretty consistently but spin a long way, late in the match we (Australia) win. I’m worried about (Mitchell) Starc and (Nathan) Lyon in the first Test if they’re unfair wickets which I’ve seen in the last series, where balls were jumping ridiculously and sliding down low from day one, I think India play those conditions better than us,” Healy said on ‘SENQ Breakfast’.
Taking Twitter, former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad reacted to Healy's remarks, serving him a reminder of the 2018/19 and 2020/21 series in which India scripted history by winning back-to-back Border-Gavaskar Trophy Down Under, asking if the hosts chose to lose by creating "unfair" pitches for the tourists.
“So Australia prepared unfair pitches against India in 2018-19 and 2020-21 to lose both test series at their home,” Prasad wrote.
The highly-anticipated Test series between India and Australia is slated to get underway on February 9 in Nagpur. Delhi will host the second Test from February 17 while Dharamshala and Ahmedabad will stage the third and fourth Tests from March 1 and March 9, respectively.
