Jadeja made a return to competitive cricket last week.
Jadeja, who was out of action for close to six months due to a knee injury, was named in India’s squad for the first two Tests of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. However, BCCI had said that his inclusion was subject to his fitness ahead of the first Test.
A fit-again Jadeja made a stunning comeback with a seven-wicket haul in the second innings against Tamil Nadu as he bowled 41.1 overs in the match. He also registered scores of 15 and 25 in the two innings to dismiss all doubts regarding his fitness.
According to a report published in ESPNCricinfo, one of the BCCI physios had travelled with Jadeja during the Ranji Trophy game to keep a track of his fitness. The all-rounder is now back at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to complete his final round of fitness tests.
Notably, Jadeja had to leave Asia Cup 2022 midway to undergo surgery on his right knee. Subsequently, he underwent an extended rehabilitation at the NCA in Bangalore.
Ravindra Jadeja was included in the Test squad for the Bangladesh tour in December but was later ruled out as he was unable to prove his fitness. His last Test appearance was the rescheduled fifth Test against England at Edgbaston in July 2022.
