Chahal was not picked for the IND v AUS five-match T20I series.
Haryana captain Ashok Menaria won the toss and chose to bowl first and his decision was proved correct by his bowlers. Uttarakhand openers Jiwanjot Singh (26) and Kunal Chandela (47) added 60 runs for the first wicket.
But Menaria brought Yuzvendra Chahal into attack for wickets and it paid rich dividends. He got rid of Jiwanjot Singh, the opposition skipper in the 19th over. He then picked the wicket of Dikshanshu Negi for 6 runs. There was a small partnership between Aditya Tare (65) and Akhil Rawat (22), but Chahal removed both the set batters.
He also removed the dangerous Swapnil Singh for 6 to complete his fifer and added one more wicket of Mayank Mishra in his kitty. Chahal finished with figures of 6/26 in 10 overs and Uttarakhand was bowled out for 207 runs in 47.4 overs.
IND v AUS 2023: Yuzvendra Chahal posts a cryptic message after snub from Australia T20Is
With this 6-fer, Chahal completed 200 wickets in List-A and this was his 3rd 6-wicket haul in the format.
Yuzvendra Chahal was not considered for the upcoming India v Australia T20I series at home and he seemingly had fallen off the radar of BCCI selectors, especially in big ICC events, as he had missed the last two T20 World Cups and the latest ICC World Cup at home.
This performance of his might remind the selectors that Chahal is still a very skilful bowler in white-ball cricket.
