Bipul Sharma retires from Indian cricket, intends to play cricket in USA

Bipul Sharma was part of Sunrisers Hyderabad's IPL 2016 winning squad.

Bipul Sharma announced his retirement from Indian cricket and moved to the United States of America (USA) to continue his cricket. A player needs to retire from domestic cricket in India to participate in the foreign leagues, as per BCCI rules.

The 38-year-old was picked by Kings XI Punjab (Now Punjab Kings) in IPL 2010, and later he played for Sunrisers Hyderabad and also featured in their IPL 2016 winning squad. He bagged 17 wickets in 33 IPL matches and scored 187 runs at a strike rate of 152.03.

Bipul has represented Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Sikkim in domestic cricket. He picked up 84 wickets and scored 1203 runs in 105 domestic T20 matches. 

The all-rounder's last match in Indian domestic cricket came for Chandigarh against Jammu & Kashmir, in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2020-21. His last T20 match for Chandigarh was against Arunachal Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2020-21.

Earlier this year, India's 2012 Under-19 World Cup-winning captain Unmukt Chand had left Indian cricket at the age of 28 to sign a multi-year deal with Major League Cricket in the USA.
