Vidarbha has suffered a major blow ahead of the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021, as two leading players from the side have been tested positive for the COVID-19 on Friday (February 12).

Times of India has revealed that the two unnamed cricketers—a batsman and a pace bowler of the Vidarbha cricket team have contracted the deadly virus when the COVID-19 tests were conducted on the Vidarbha’s squad comprising 22 players and three standby players.

It is being said that Vidarbha will leave for Indore on Saturday morning, and will undergo five-day quarantine – which means the side will just have a couple of practice sessions before their opening match against Andhra Pradesh on February 20 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021.

Vidarbha’s next games are lined-up against Madhya Pradesh (February 22), Jharkhand (February 24), Punjab (February 26), and Tamil Nadu (February 28) in the Elite Group ‘B’ in the tournament.

Well, Vidarbha has lost out on the two players and they are now replaced by the left-handed Shubham Dubey and Saurabh Dubey for the 50-over championship competition.

Noteworthy, Shubham has been a consistent performer and recently finished among the top five run-scorers in the Guzder Lague ‘A’ Division one-day tournament, scoring 469 runs at 78.17.
