Jamaica Tallawahs and St Lucia Zouks faced each other in the third game of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020 in Trinidad on Wednesday (August 19).

Asked to bat first, Zouks posted 158/7 in 20 overs on the back of Roston Chase’s 42-ball 52 (4 fours and 2 sixes).

Mujeeb Ur Rahman (2/25) and Veerasammy Permaul (2/34) were the stand-out bowlers for Tallawahs, claiming two wickets each. Sandeep Lamichhane (1/23) was also economical with the ball.

In reply, Tallawahs rode on Glenn Phillips’ 29-ball 44 and Asif Ali’s unbeaten 27-ball 47 to overhaul the target with five wickets and seven balls to spare.

Brief Scores:

St Lucia Zouks 158/7 in 20 overs (Roston Chase 52; Mujeeb Ur Rahman 2/25) lost to Jamaica Tallawahs 160/5 in 18.5 overs (Asif Ali 47*; Kesrick Williams 2/32) by 5 wickets

In the fourth match of the tournament played on the same day, Guyana Amazon Warriors locked horns with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in Trinidad.

Opting to bowl first, Guyana restricted Patriots to 127/8 with Keemo Paul (4/19) doing the damage with the ball. Imran Tahir also bowled brilliantly, claiming 2 wickets by conceding only 18 runs in his four overs.

It was a disappointing batting performance from the Patriots as opener Evin Lewis was the top-scorer with 18-ball 30.

In reply, Guyana achieved the target with three overs to spare. Even though Guyana lost seven wickets in their innings, Shimron Hetmyer’s 44-ball 71 laced with 8 fours and 3 sixes was more than enough to see them through.

Skipper Rayad Emrit was the pick of the bowler for Patriots as he picked up 3 for 31 in his three overs and staged a fightback.

Brief Scores:

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots 127/8 in 20 overs (Evin Lewis 30; Keemo Paul 4/19) lost to Guyana Amazon Warriors 131/7 in 17 overs (Shimron Hetmyer 71; Rayad Emrit 3/31) by 3 wickets
