Veteran India opener Rohit Sharma has confirmed his availability to represent Mumbai in the upcoming 2026-27 Vijay Hazare Trophy, The Indian Express reported.

The Indian team is scheduled to play a three-match home ODI series against Sri Lanka from December 13 to 19. Rohit will reportedly join the Mumbai squad immediately after the conclusion of this assignment.

“He has informed us that he will be playing for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and to consider him available after India’s three-ODI series against Sri Lanka at home. How many matches he will be available for, he will inform us later,” an MCA source quoted as saying by the publication.

The league stage of the domestic 50-over tournament runs from December 14 to December 29. Because Rohit has retired from other two formats, he will skip India's subsequent T20I series against Sri Lanka. This clears a 10-day window for him to feature in the tail end of Mumbai's league stage fixtures.

Depending on Mumbai's qualification and national team selections for the home ODI series against Zimbabwe (starting January 3, 2027), Rohit could potentially play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy knockouts scheduled from January 2 to 8, 2027.

Notably, Rohit Sharma remains highly motivated to play the next year’s ODI World Cup in Africa. He made a notable return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy during the 2025-26 domestic season to secure essential game time and counter the scarcity of scheduled international ODIs.

Rohit is currently in New Zealand with the Indian squad to play a five-match ODI series, starting November 4 in Auckland.
