Mumbai faced off against Uttarakhand in their second match of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT 2025-26) on December 26, 2025. All the focus of the match was on Rohit Sharma, the veteran Indian batter.
Rohit Sharma has been in grand form and has smashed 155 runs in Mumbai’s first game at the venue against Sikkim. Much was expected from Rohit Sharma in the second game as well. The match marked only Rohit’s second Vijay Hazare Trophy appearance in eight years.
However, as Mumbai was asked to bat first by Uttarakhand, Rohit Sharma disappointed his fans at Sawai Man Singh Stadium as he fell for a first-ball duck in the first over itself. Devendra Singh Bora bowled a short delivery to Rohit, who tried to play his trademark pull shot, but top-edged the ball towards fine leg, where the fielder took an easy catch.
Mumbai still managed to post 331/7 as brothers Sarfaraz Khan and Musheer Khan made 55 runs each, while keeper Hardik Tamore made 93*, while Shams Mulani made 48 to propel Mumbai to a very good total.
While Rohit Sharma failed to set the stage on fire with the bat, he excelled with his fielding in the clips. In the third over of the second innings, Kamal Singh edged a ball from Shardul Thakur straight to Rohit, who took a simple catch in first slip.
