Former England captain Michael Vaughan has been very excited for England’s chances in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. The hosts are also the no.1 ranked ODI team and are going in the tournament with much expectations as the Eoin Morgan-led team was announced recently.

It’s the best opportunity in my time for England – I remember 1992 as a youngster, watching that final at college. They got to the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy [in 2017] two years ago but didn’t get over the line on that occasion. They’ve got to see that as a real positive experience and if they get into the semis again, play smart cricket,” Vaughan was quoted as saying by BBC talking about England’s chances in the World Cup.

Now, Vaughan has come up with his dream XI of the ICC World Cup 2019 which sees Rohit Sharma and David Warner opening and Virat Kohli and Babar Azam coming in at no.3 and no.4. Vaughan then goes for some firepower in Jos Butler and Ben Stokes with Buttler as wicketkeeper.

The former England captain picks two leggies in his side in Adil Rashid and Shadab Khan, with Jasprit Bumrah, Pat Cummins and Trent Boult being the fast bowlers in the side. He named Afghanistan's leggie Rashid Khan as his 12th man.

Michael Vaughan’s ICC World Cup 2019 dream XI:

Rohit Sharma, David Warner, Virat Kohli, Babar Azam, Jos Butler, Ben Stokes, Shadab Khan, Pat Cummins, Adil Rashid, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Rashid Khan (12th man)
