India had a wild day at the MCG on Thursday. Sam Konstas thrashed them first, and four Australian batsmen each scored fifty runs before Jasprit Bumrah led an incredible Indian recovery to win them.
Konstas, on debut, made 60, Usmn Khawaja made 57, Marnus Labuschagne made 72 and Steve Smith was unbeaten at stumps at 60-odd runs as Australia brought up 311/6 on day one. Jasprit Bumrah saved India once more with 3 wickets in his kitty, including that of Travis Head for a duck.
Steve Smith protected a ball from Ravindra Jadeja during play, but Rohit saw when it rolled over next to the close-in fielder Jaiswal, who was standing rather than kneeling.
Immediately, he pulled out Jaiswal for his error and said, "Arre Jaisu… gully cricket khel raha hai kya? Neeche baithe reh. Jab tak ball khelega nahi, neeche baithe reh. Uthne ka nahi" (Hey, Jaiswal… are you playing gully cricket? Stay down. Until he plays the ball, stay down. You're not supposed to get up).”
