India ended day 4 on 252/9 in reply to Australia's 445 in Brisbane Test.
On December 17, 2024, India managed to cross the threshold to avoid continuing in the ongoing third BGT 2024 Test against Australia in Brisbane, saving them from humiliation.
On day four, India resumed at 51/4, with Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul starting. But his Australian counterpart dismissed the India captain for ten runs. Ravindra Jadeja, on the other hand, provided support to Rahul, who anchored one end.
KL Rahul was dismissed for 84 runs in 139 balls with eight fours after the pair accumulated 67 runs for the sixth wicket. Before getting out to Cummins, Jadeja led the tailenders and scored 77 runs with seven fours and one six.
However, Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep managed to evade any mishaps and slowly took India towards the target on 246 runs to avoid follow-on. Akash Deep hit a four off Pat Cummins to take India past the follow-on score mark.
But Akash Deep was not done as he smacked Australia captain Pat Cummins for a staggering six that left the Indian dressing room celebrating.
When Pat Cummins bowled a full ball off-stump, Akash Deep produced the enormous shot. With a clean strike for a huge six, he sent the ball screaming over deep mid-wicket, leaving the captain of the Australian team looking completely lost.
Virat Kohli couldn’t believe that Akash’s shot went deep into the stands at mid-wicket and pressed his face against the dressing room glass to watch it sail. Even Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir couldn’t keep themselves from applauding Akash’s shot.
