BGT 2024: WATCH - Jasprit Bumrah asks journo to Google his Test record when asked about his batting ability

India ended day 3 on 51/4 in reply to Australia's 445 in Brisbane Test.

India Test vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah took a cheeky dig at a journalist after his batting ability was questioned after the end of day three of the ongoing third BGT 2024 Test in Brisbane, against Australia.

Australia had been bowled out for 445 runs on day three, while India managed 51/4 in reply, as stumps had to be called due to consistent rain interruptions. Jasprit Bumrah completed a six-wicket haul, his second in the series.

However, it was the batting that failed India, as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Rishabh Pant all fell for single-digit scores. KL Rahul remained not out for 33, with captain Rohit Sharma for company.

Jasprit Bumrah engaged in some lighthearted joking following the third day of play in the third Test against Australia. Bumrah maintained a positive demeanor at his news conference at the Gabba, even when a journalist questioned his batting talents.

The debate began when a journalist questioned Bumrah about India's batting performance in the first innings of the third Test. While admitting that Bumrah may not be the best person to remark on batting, the writer stated that he still wanted to hear the vice-captain's thoughts.

Bumrah was eager to answer, reminding the journalist of his world record for the most runs scored in a single over of Test cricket.  

Reporter: "Hi, Jasprit. What is your assessment of the batting, although you are not the best person to answer the question, but what do you think about the situation of the team, considering the conditions in Gabba?"

Bumrah: "It's an interesting question. But, you are questioning my batting ability. You should use Google and see who has got the most number of runs in a Test over. But, jokes apart. That's another story."

Bumrah’s witty response elicited laughter from the journalists in the room.

Bumrah was referring to his memorable 35-run over against Stuart Broad in Birmingham Test in 2022 when he hammered the veteran England pacer for three boundaries and sixes in an over.

Bumrah continues to dominate the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with 18 wickets in just five innings. On Monday, he became only the second Indian bowler to reach 50 Test wickets in Australia, following the legendary Kapil Dev.
