The Bangladesh opener didn’t lose his composure as Siraj did his best to unsettle him.
The right-arm pacer returned with the figures of 3 for 20 in his 13 overs, helping India bundled out the hosts for a paltry 150. Apart from his sensational spell, he also grabbed the headlines for his heated exchange with Litton Das.
While Bangladesh’s first innings folded rather quickly, the home side got off to a stunning start in the second essay. The opening duo of Najmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hasan took the team past the 100-run mark without a loss of wicket in their mammoth chase of 513.
Siraj looked desperate for wickets in the second innings and in frustration, he ended up giving a mouthful to Shanto, shortly after the latter’s valiant half-century.
Unlike Litton, the Bangladesh opener didn’t lose his composure as Siraj did his best to unsettle him.
In the 34th over of Bangladesh’s second innings, Siraj sledged Shanto and gave him a glare but the latter chose to look away and smiled.
In the very next ball, the paceman once again walked up to him and this time there were some words spoken. The opening batter exchanged eye contact.
An over later, Siraj continued his battle with Shanto, aiming to irritate the batter, but he once again smiled back at the India pacer. In the same over, Shanto rather preferred to answer with his bat as he pulled a short delivery from Siraj for a cracking boundary.
