BAN v IND 2022: Cricket fraternity reacts as Gill, Pujara centuries enable India to set 513-run target for Bangladesh  

Shubman scored his maiden Test ton, while Pujara scored his first after 52 innings and 1443 days.

The third day of the ongoing first Test between Bangladesh and India proved to be fruitful for the Indian team as they set a humongous target for the home side to chase down in the fourth innings in Chattogram on December 16, 2022.

Indian team wrapped up the Bangladesh first innings quickly at 150 with Kuldeep Yadav picking 5/40 and Mohammed Siraj finishing with 3/20.  

In reply, KL Rahul got out for 23 runs to Khaled Ahmed, but then Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman Gill made the Bangladeshi bowlers work hard as they added 113 runs for the second wicket. During this partnership, Shubman Gill hit his maiden Test century before being dismissed on 110 in 152 balls with 10 fours and 3 sixes to his name.

As the declaration came close, Pujara stepped on the gas pedal and reached his 19th Test century, and first after 52 innings and 1443 days, making 102* in 130 with 13 fours. This was also his fastest Test century.

He added a quick 75* runs with Virat Kohli for the third wicket who made 19*.

KL Rahul declared the Indian innings at 258/2 after Pujara completed his hundred and set Bangladesh a 513-run target.

The cricket fraternity was all praiseful for the young Shubman Gill for his maiden Test ton and veteran Pujara for his century after 52 innings.
