Mohsin Naqvi had walked away with the Asia Cup trophy after Team India refused to collect it from him.
The Asia Cup 2025 concluded with a massive controversy last month as Team India refused to receive their winners' trophy and medallions from ACC and PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi, who is also Pakistan’s Interior Minister and posted anti-India sentiments on social media throughout the tournament.
Furious with India’s stance, Naqvi took the silverware and medals to his hotel room. After BCCI’s protest, the PCB boss said that if India wants the trophy and medals, skipper Suryakumar Yadav can collect them from his ACC office in Dubai.
However, the Indian board has reportedly denied this condition and is planning to lodge a complaint against Naqvi at the ICC meeting later this year.
Mohsin Naqvi’s cheap act, however, hadn’t stopped the Indian players from rejoicing their Asia Cup triumph. Mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy came up with a hilarious coffee mug post on social media to celebrate the win.
Varun's post went viral as the Indian players trolled the PCB chairman after winning the title.
In the latest episode of Breakfast with Champions, Varun Chakaravarthy spilled the beans on his coffee mug celebration after beating Pakistan.
"So, I knew that we were going to win because by the time we won the second match against them, I knew that if we were going to meet them in the finals, we were going to win," said Varun.
"So, I had planned everything. I was going to take a photo like I am sleeping with a cup and all those things. But after the match, there was nothing next to me. Just a coffee cup. So, I went ahead with it," he added.
Varun Chakaravarthy further stated that not lifting the trophy didn’t matter, as it didn’t change the fact that they had won the continental tournament.
"I knew that we would win all games. We are the number one team in the world. (Cup cheen sakte hai) The Cup can be taken away, but we are champions,” he remarked.
