India resumed play at 46/4 match curtailed to 32 overs per side.
The match also marked the return of the veteran duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to the Indian team for the first time after the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in March. Both retired from T20Is last year and from Tests this year, but have shown an inclination to play in the ODIs, keeping the ICC World Cup 2027 in mind.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma fell for eight runs in 14 balls to Josh Hazlewood, and Virat Kohli fell for a duck to Mitchell Starc. Nathan Ellis then got rid of Shubman Gill for 10 runs in his first ODI as India captain.
And then rain struck as the match was interrupted twice, and during the second rain break, cameras caught Captain Shubman Gill and ex-captain Rohit Sharma sharing a tub of popcorn.

The two were initially observed having a serious conversation while probably analyzing the batting approach and pitch conditions. As they watched the rain outside, eating popcorn and cracking jokes, the atmosphere quickly changed.
