Ajinkya Rahane-led young Indian cricket team managed to keep the Indian flag fly high by retaining the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the second consecutive time on Australian soil, as the entire world can’t stop praising this young team for their historic and incredible achievement.

England head coach Chris Silverwood spoke highly of the Indian team while revealing his players were watching India’s memorable win over Australia while preparing for the second Test in Sri Lanka, and even they had lunch after Rahane’s team won the Brisbane Test on Tuesday (January 19).

Notably, Team India overcome all the setbacks on the down under to win the four-Test series 2-1 on Australia soil for the second consecutive time to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by thrashing the hosts at their fortress The Gabba in the final Test on Tuesday.

Rahane and his young team scripted history despite playing the mighty Australians with a young XI given so many injuries to their first-choice players, but still, it couldn’t deter their determination and grit to give the hosts a bitter taste of their own medicine.

While the entire world hailing the young Indian players character, Silverwood has found India’s memorable victory over Australia as a confidence booster for England as they hope to beat the Aussies in the Ashes 2021-2021 to reclaim the Urn later this year.

Silverwood told reporters in a conference call from Galle: “I thought it was brilliant. It's nothing to do with me, Tim Paine's captaincy, but it's always nice to see people in opposition teams under pressure. India’s Brisbane win shows that, if you do the basics well and get stuck in, we can beat them.”

The England coach further added, “Our boys back in the hotel were taking an interest and I think most of them appeared for lunch after India had won. So they were all staying and watching.”

Well, England will face India in nine consecutive away and home Tests before the 2021-22 Ashes and Silverwood said these matches will prove a golden opportunity for his team to prepare against very strong opposition for the Ashes tour of Australia later this year.

He signed off by saying, “If you look at what we've got in front of us before we get to the Ashes we have nine Tests against India. What a fantastic way to prepare against very strong opposition. There'll be some great cricket and all the guys here are excited to play in those series, just as we are excited to play in this one.”
