India chased down 328 in the fourth innings to beat Australia at the Gabba.
Chasing 328 to win in the fourth innings, the visitors were 4/0 overnight and lost opener Rohit Sharma (7) early on Day 5. But the 21-year-old Shubman Gill once again displayed his class as he scored 91 to give India some believe.
In the process, Gill also shared a 114-run stand with Cheteshwar Pujara, who showed his grit once more and played a 56-run knock off 211 balls.
In the second session, however, India lost both of them in addition to skipper Ajinkya Rahane (24). However, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant came to the party just when the tourists needed it the most.
After taking a bit of time, Pant played his natural game to put the Aussie bowlers on the backfoot. The southpaw forged crucial partnerships with Mayank Agarwal and Washington Sundar (22) and stayed unbeaten on 89 to take the team over the line.
For their historic 2-1 victory in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Team India garnered rich praises from the international cricket fraternity.
