Legendary Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist has expressed his surprise over the Indian Cricket Team’s injury crisis and said the tourists need to find out the reason behind the spate of injuries that have plagued them during the four-Test series in Australia.

Gilchrist has further expressed his concern over the adversity India has been facing on the ongoing tour Down Under as the Indian dressing room has turned into a mini-hospital with around half-a-dozen cricketers battling with injuries and forced the tourists to play with a depleted team in the final Test.

Team India has already suffered a spate of injuries on the ongoing Australia tour and was yet again hit by another injury concern on Friday when pacer Navdeep Saini was forced to go off the field due to groin pain.

His comments came after Navdeep Saini became the latest to give another injury concern to India on Friday, as Team India has already suffered a spate of injuries on the tour including to the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, R Ashwin, and Mohammad Shami.

Gilchrist told foxsports.com.au: “It's just been extraordinary the adversity they have faced on this tour. They'll need to work out why there have been so many injuries.”

He further added, “A few have been inflicted by the Australian pace attack, but the soft tissue injuries they'll need to assess why they came about and whether it was something in or out of their control.”

However, the 49-year-old Aussie lauded India for the fightback and determination they have shown in the face of adversity in the ongoing Test series, adding:  “But you can't question their resilience and their willingness to stay in the fight and not lie down.”

Gilchrist signed off by saying, “There have been plenty of talented touring teams across all nations that have been here and succumbed to Test cricket in this country. It's amazing that they've got to the Gabba well and truly in the series with a chance to win it.”
