Paine dropped Rishabh Pant twice and Hanuma Vihari once in the last session.
Australia captain and wicket-keeper Tim Paine had constant chatter going on behind the stumps on day five of the third Test. But it wasn't backed with a good performance with the gloves.
Paine dropped three catches on the last day when Australia were in desperate need of wickets to take a 2-1 lead in the series. He put down a catch of Hanuma Vihari in the last session off Mitchell Starc.
The ball was flying to him off Vihari's edge at a good height but he couldn't grab it after diving his right. The other two catches were dropped earlier in the day; giving Rishabh Pant two lives. Pant, who scored 97, had survived edges off Nathan Lyon.
Paine's drop catches did help India as Vihari remained not-out till the end of the day to save the match for India. His dismissal would have meant the tailenders of India needed to bat which may have given Australia a better chance of winning.
Twitterati didn't miss out on pulling Paine's legs over his poor work behind the stumps. They didn't spare him especially after a heated banter with R Ashwin in the last few overs of the day's play. Ashwin told him his next series in India could be the last one.
