Jaffer used a Nawazuddin Siddiqui meme from Sacred Games to troll Michael Vaughan.
India lost the first Test in Adelaide in humiliating fashion, after being bowled out for their lowest score in an innings-36 and Vaughan had suggested that nothing can save India from being white-washed 4-0 in the series.
This was kind of true as well, given that Virat Kohli was leaving for India to be with his wife for the birth of their first child, India were already missing Ishant Sharma and had lost Mohammad Shami to a fractured arm. Opener Prithvi Shaw was out of form and there were questions about Ajinkya Rahane’s leadership.
However, Rahane led from the front, as he scored a brilliant century in MCG, his second in a row, and was named Man of the Match as well. Indian bowlers, especially Jasprit Bumrah, R Ashwin, and debutant Mohammed Siraj performed really well to keep the Australians in check.
Another debutant Shubman Gill showed that despite being 22, he belonged to the international cricket stage and a long-term prospect for India as well with solid scores of 45 and 35*, as India won the Test by 8 wickets on day 4.
This led to former India opener Wasim Jaffer severely trolling Michael Vaughan for his 4-0 series loss prediction for India. He used a Sacred Games meme featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui to make fun of Vaughan.
Michael Vaughan, changed his tune a bit, but still favored Australia to win the series, this time by a margin of 3-1 in his new prediction. He also said that if Melbourne replaced Sydney as the venue for the third Test in this series it also gives India a chance, but he still backed Australia to bounce back and win by 3-1.
Vaughan tweeted, “If the pitches are similar for the Ashes as they have been for the Indian series it gives England a great chance .. If Melbourne replaces Sydney for this series it also gives India a chance but I still think the Aussies will bounce back and win 3-1 .. #AUSvIND”
