Ganguly had played his 100th Test at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2007.
In a video shared on Twitter, Ganguly, ahead of the second Test between India and Australia, said playing at the MCG in a Boxing Day Test match is a "great moment" and also mentioned that he has everlasting memories from his 100th Test appearance.
"Start of the boxing day test at MCG tomorrow ..great moment for a lot of players in the current team..everlasting memories for me in my 100 th test here @bcci @CricketAus," Ganguly wrote in the caption of the video.
With India’s regular skipper Virat Kohli returning home for the birth of his first child, Ajinkya Rahane will now have to take the onus of inspiring the visitors to script a turnaround in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy Down Under.
Having suffered a humiliating 8-wicket defeat at Adelaide, Team India are currently trailing 1-0 in the four-Test series.
Meanwhile, the visitors have made as many as four changes in their playing XI for the Boxing Day Test, with two of them being forced.
While Ravindra Jadeja comes in for Kohli, Mohammed Siraj replaces the injured pacer Mohammad Shami in the playing XI. Moreover, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant replace Prithvi Shaw and Wriddhiman Saha in the team respectively.
